Slashdot had a post today on a Reuters report about DU Daobin getting detained by police for a online petition calling for the release of LIU Di. I can't find any Chinese report yet.

SCIM is a quite promising Chinese input method in Linux. Today I managed to compile it successfully on my Debian Woody box. Looks nice.

Jmol has been updated to version 8. And more excitingly, they are planning a version 10 coming out in December with a rewritten 3D engine and an enhanced plugin. I am really glad to see Jmol getting progress. Hopefully I can do some testing to get better Xmol format support (especially movie) and a Simplified Chinese (zh_CN) localization.
